Monday Meetings

Here's a post for that wonderful moment when the one meeting you had scheduled for your Monday gets cancelled and allows you to recoup from a headache plagued, insomnia filled weekend in the comfort of your office with only natural light and Pandora to keep you company.

Just what I needed.

Tears of Relief

This is a post to recognize that miraculous moment when you spend thirty minutes on the phone with your childhood best friend who sounds like she never went through brain surgery two and half weeks ago.

I sobbed for at least ten minutes when I got of the phone.  (And cried all over again when John came home and I told him the story.)  Tears of relief.  Tears of joy.  Tears of thanks.  I am still weak with disbelief.  My friend is doing amazingly well.  I am too overwhelmed too explain it all but I want to thank anyone who sent a prayer or a positive thought to Christy and her family.  Everything was heard.

I do not feel like I am exaggerating when I say I feel like I experienced a miracle talking to Christy on the phone.

My heart hurts with gratitude and happiness for my dear friend and her family.

Bad Mood Bear

Here's a post to recognize that moment when you realize you are in an bad mood for no reason at all.

I feel like I'm really agitated even though I'm sitting here doing my work and nothing has happened.  I don't even have PMS as an excuse.  I suppose I did have an awful night's sleep but I don't feel abnormally tired so I can't see how this could be the cause.  There's no point to it but I can't seem to shake it either.  Bleh.

Does anyone else ever get like this or is it just me?

Throw-Me-For-A-Loop Thursday

Here's a post to recognize that moment when you wake up after a rough night/day/week realizing your alarm didn't go off, it's 7:35am, you have to be at work at 8am, you throw on some flip flops to walk from the parking lot to your office across campus, pack a nicer pair of shoes in a bag to change into later, get to the office and find this..

Now What?

Here's a post for that moment when you just finished a huge goal you set for yourself and then find yourself trying to figure out what the next challenge should be.

I guess I'll think about that cuddled up on the couch with Roxy watching "Giuliana & Bill".

Dangerous

Here's a post to recognize that moment when you realize you're a hazard to yourself.

On Saturday evening after a full day of studying I went to put leftovers away in the fridge on the bottom shelf.  Simple enough task, right?  Apparently not for me.  When I went to stand up I banged the back of my head so incredibly hard on the bottom of the freezer (we have a freezer-top fridge) that it knocked me to the ground.  I cannot even begin to describe just how hard the impact was.  My head was so tender for hours after.  My head and neck still hurt but even more I have not stopped feeling naseous and dazed since.  Yesterday I was even more clumsy than normal and dropped about half of the stuff I touched.  I couldn't even focus to study for a minute - a day wasted I didn't have.

My husband and boss think I gave myself a concussion.  After looking at WebMD I might conceed to that theory.  Here's what I found:
What Is a Concussion? "...a concussion is most often caused by a sudden direct blow or bump to head..." - Check.
What Are the Signs of a Concussion? "confusion or feeling dazed; clumsiness; ...; nausea or vomiting; headache; ..." - Check, check, check, and check.
Considering it has been about 39 hours since I hit my head and I'm still feeling all of the same symptoms I may have a grade 2 concussion.  No fun.  I have refused to go to the doctor because I don't think there is anything they can do for a concussion but if these symptoms continue in full force I may have to.  Bleh.

In the meantime I guess I'll just be dependent on coffee while I'm at work, try focusing really hard to accomplish my to dos, and stay away from refridgerators.

Who knew I they could be so dangerous?

Happy Monday.

That Moment When..

A post to recognize that perfectly awesome moment when your 65(ish) year old, female co-worker randomly starts singing:

"Everyday I'm shufflin'"

True story.
