Well Rounded

Today was such a well rounded day!  I feel so accomplished!  And it feels great!

I have worked a good nine hour day at the office, full of productivity, a visit to Starbucks and some weekend small talk with co-workers.  Talked to my mom and one of my best friends.  Came home and prepared a home cooked meal of arroz con pollo -- my first time ever trying to make it by myself (It came out ok.  A little bland.)  I relaxed a bit on the tv and computer.  Cuddled with my pup.  Danced with her around the house -- I wish I knew what she was thinking as we were dancing.  And did a super thorough cleaning of the kitchen in preparation for my mom and niece's visit in a couple of days while listening to John Mayer croon on the guitar.

Now I'm off to shower and get feedback from hubby on his home cooked meal I had ready for him when he came home from work.

Domestic bliss.

A Prize in Every Pouch

I just found a bone in my tuna.  Not a small bone either.  A bone about the size of an embroidery needle.

You can't really tell the size in this picture but it was big and thick and gross.  Look at it compared to the prong of the plastic fork beside it.  Yikes!

Monday Meetings

Here's a post for that wonderful moment when the one meeting you had scheduled for your Monday gets cancelled and allows you to recoup from a headache plagued, insomnia filled weekend in the comfort of your office with only natural light and Pandora to keep you company.

Just what I needed.

Moving On

Today I'm moving on from my old office dwelling to a new office home...with a window!  Since joining the work force I have had two offices of my own; both of which were on the interior of large buildings and were essentially closets.  I enjoyed those closets but today I have a window and I will undoubtedly enjoy that even more!

I am considering this (though it's not really) my job's SPHR congratulations present to me since I won't get a pay raise or a promotion until I move into another job.

Once I get settled in and somethings I don't need get moved out I'll post some pictures.

Until then happy Monday!

Random Writings - vol. 1

  • I'm still recovering from my SPHR experience and trying to figure out a new groove.  It will come but I'm not rushing it.  I'm enjoying my "whatever comes my way" life at the moment.
  • Thanks to my smart husband we're flipping a car to buy a new couch.  We sold our old one and have the new couch but not the new loveseat so there's a huge open space in our living room - perfect for a random dance party or our pup's freshly cleaned toys.
  • I get to see my niece this weekend and I cannot wait!  Mr. Woo is coming too which makes me even more excited.  Seeing him with her is just plain funny and cute.
  • I need to figure out what direction I want this blog to go in, although, I suppose I did include a disclaimer that it's a blog about nothing.
  • Even though I really enjoy my job, I kind of wish it was Friday.  It doesn't help that it feels like it is.

Dangerous - Part 2

After feeling progressively worse throughout the day, I got a sick appointment for this afternoon. The verdict..

I have concussion.

I also got a cat scan.  Thankfully it came out fine.  (Although I did learn it's not good when you hit your head and you don't get a knot.  Interesting.)

The doc also said it could take up to four weeks to feel back to normal.  Two days down.

At least the countdown has started.

And with that jam packed, nausea filled day, I'm going to bed my friends.

G'Night!

Dangerous

Here's a post to recognize that moment when you realize you're a hazard to yourself.

On Saturday evening after a full day of studying I went to put leftovers away in the fridge on the bottom shelf.  Simple enough task, right?  Apparently not for me.  When I went to stand up I banged the back of my head so incredibly hard on the bottom of the freezer (we have a freezer-top fridge) that it knocked me to the ground.  I cannot even begin to describe just how hard the impact was.  My head was so tender for hours after.  My head and neck still hurt but even more I have not stopped feeling naseous and dazed since.  Yesterday I was even more clumsy than normal and dropped about half of the stuff I touched.  I couldn't even focus to study for a minute - a day wasted I didn't have.

My husband and boss think I gave myself a concussion.  After looking at WebMD I might conceed to that theory.  Here's what I found:
What Is a Concussion? "...a concussion is most often caused by a sudden direct blow or bump to head..." - Check.
What Are the Signs of a Concussion? "confusion or feeling dazed; clumsiness; ...; nausea or vomiting; headache; ..." - Check, check, check, and check.
Considering it has been about 39 hours since I hit my head and I'm still feeling all of the same symptoms I may have a grade 2 concussion.  No fun.  I have refused to go to the doctor because I don't think there is anything they can do for a concussion but if these symptoms continue in full force I may have to.  Bleh.

In the meantime I guess I'll just be dependent on coffee while I'm at work, try focusing really hard to accomplish my to dos, and stay away from refridgerators.

Who knew I they could be so dangerous?

Happy Monday.

Keep Ya Head Up

Ever have one of those days that started with 4 hours of sleep, getting startled by your alarm, running late so you can't straighten your hair, falling in the middle of the hallway at work and spilling water everywhere, making coffee and the filter somehow gets folded in so your fresh pot of brewed coffee is part coffee part granules, spilling an attempted "saved" cup of said coffee everywhere, typing words that you don't intend - in an order that isn't correct, and an inability to speak correctly when it's only 10:48am?

I'm having one of those days.  I've never felt this out of it without being on seizure medicines for my migraines.

However, I won't mark it in the books as a bad day yet just a challenging one.

At least no one saw me fall, I had clean clothes since I did all my laundry yesterday, and knew what food I was going to pack for breakfast and lunch that was quick (a win when you're running late) and pretty healthy, and I finally got a cup of coffee and it didn't even have any coffee grinds.

Empty coffee cup = More focused me

Now, I'm jamming to some good music on my Pandora stations while focusing really hard on work.

"Keep ya head up, ooo child things are gonna get easier
Ooo child things are gonna get brighter"
I'll allow myself think Tupac was referring to my day.

Happy Monday!
